Visiting Ringers & Bands
-
Visiting ringers are welcome anytime at local
practices. but we suggest that all visitors contact the local ringers before
attending as occasionally practices may be cancelled due to unavailability
of local band members.
-
Requests for special ringing sessions will be
accommodated as best we can. It should be noted that Southminster is
adjacent to two schools so it is unlikely that any ringing will be permitted
from Monday to Friday except in the evenings, and that additional
limitations are placed on ringing by choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings
and occasion evening events at the schools or the adjacent library.
-
Requests for peal attempts will be accepted for
weekends and legal holidays only. Due to the remote chance of a church event
(such as a funeral) occurring at short notice, it may be necessary to move
the time window allocated for a peal attempt by up to 2 or 3 hours.
-
The peal fee is $5 per rope. This
is applicable to all peal attempts, whether scored or lost. The fee for
quarter peals is $20 for both NAG and non-NAG band. Should a mechanical
failure cause the loss of a quarter or full peal attempt, there would be no
fee, of course.
-
All visitors to Southminster Peace Tower, whether
ringers or not, must individually read and sign one of our
safety disclaimer forms, prior to entering the ringing room and belfry.
-
Peals arranged by the PCRG, or more specifically
by the Southminster Change Ringers, whether or not they include visitors,
and peals arranged by visitors in which half the band or more are resident,
regular Sunday service PCRG ringers, could be excused peal or other fees at
the discretion of the incumbent committee.
-
The decision as to whether or not the louvers
will be open or closed during ringing, will, on all occasions, be made by
the officers of Southminster Change Ringers/Pittsburgh Change Ringing
Guild Normal practice is for them to be closed.
-
We hope that all visiting bands will be willing
and able to find the time to practice with the local ringers.
-
To schedule peals, quarters or other ringing,
please contact , PCRG Secretary.
